The Centre has two especially stable canoes for use by disabled people. The Canoe Centre and the Water Sports Centre at Bodenham have combined on various occasions to provide sailing, canoeing and 'messing about in boats' on the water in Bodenham for disabled youngsters.

ABLE offers free, impartial and confidential service of information, advice, and in some cases, practical help. ABLE provides one focal point of contact for the multitude of questions which can confront a person with a disability.
The information can by used by anyone with a query or problem connected with any aspect of disability; for instance: Disabled people, their families, friends and carers.
Professionals: doctors, social workers, architects, therapists, educationalists.
Voluntary and statutory agencies. Students and researchers.
The service is available by telephone, fax, writing, e-mail, internet or personal visit. Queries are dealt with directly wherever possible and backed up by documentary information as appropriate. Confidentiality is respected in all cases. Names are not taken unless there is a need to research the answer and re-contact the enquirer.

Wheelchair user clinics are held regularly to find solutions where standard chairs and wheelchair seating difficulties cannot be resolved in the home environment. Attendance at these clinics is by appointment only. Consult your community therapist for a referral. All enquiries can be sent to The District Wheelchair Service, Belmont Abbey, Hereford, HR2 9RP. People who wish to purchase wheelchairs, scooters or an electrically propelled wheelchair can also be advised. If a charitable concern wishes to raise money to provide such an appliance for an individual, it is essential to get professional advice before making a purchase.

NHS Wheelchair Provision
For the long-term loan of a wheelchair it is important that the correct model of correct size with the correct accessories is ordered. This must not only be done to take into account the size and shape and abilities of the user, but also the home environment and the lifestyle. This assessment will be done by a qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapists who will place their recommendation with the Wheelchair Service, Herefordshire Primary Care NHS trust. Wireless for the Bedridden is a national charity which provides televisions and/or radios for people who are housebound and in financial need. Our service provides a range of brand new televisions from a major national company on a full maintenance contract at no cost to the recipient. (Where necessary, we also pay the first annual licence fee). APPLICATIONS need to be recommended and supported by a sponsoring organisation such as a Social Services Department, recognised charity or welfare agency. Glenton Lodge is provided by the WRVS and has places for 20 people with functional mental health problems (e.g. depression or anxiety) as well as people in the early stages of dementia illnesses. Workmatch is a local charity providing an innovative and exciting range of training projects to help disadvantaged people to fulfil their potential into paid or voluntary employment. All trainees are assessed and given a 'Training for Work' programme tailored to their individual needs and aspirations. Training project include, Art and Design, Catering, Light Engineering, Office Cleaning, Horticulture and Office Skills. Trainees are able to work towards accredited training units (City and Guilds) whilst on our projects.
We liaise closely with Employment and Benefits agencies to ensure that each trainee is given an accurate range of options specific to their own personal circumstances. All trainees placed into work are fully supported by our staff.
