We aim to ensure that all individuals with dyslexia are identified and educated to allow them to be successful by: providing accurate assessment and the most appropriate teaching; working to influence and improve the practice of mainstream educational services for children and adults with Dyslexia, through specialist teacher training, the development of high quality teaching tools, the evaluation of teaching methods to achieve better practice, and by improving awareness and understanding of dyslexia. Dyslexia Action has three main roles: assessment, teaching and teacher training. It also produces its own publications and teaching materials and undertakes a continuous research programme.

Listening Books is a charity that provides audio books in cassette format via the post to people who have difficulty reading in the usual way. A disability can make reading hard-going for certain people and for those who have no trouble reading books this can be taken for granted. When the recordings are finished a master tape is produced and copies are placed in our library ready to send out to members. Every day the Royal Mail collect the post bags and deliver the books. Our "books" are standard cassette tapes housed in plastic boxes that are posted through people's letterboxes. When the members have finished listening to them they are posted back to us and the whole process starts all over again the next morning.
